Most of us in India are taught that we must put others first and we watch ourselves fall further and further down out list of priorities.   1. Yes , taking care of yourself is important . We are taught that we should help others , yes of course we should always help others but one should make himself/herself a priority . If we are not keeping ourselves priority than it may have adverse effects on our mental health in long terms .
    So i won’t say helping yourself or keeping yourself at the top of list is being selfish . One should know to keep a balance between things .
    Now if i come to suggest some things , i would not recommend one particular thing rather would say have fun , do whatever makes you happy , it can be anything from singing to dancing , cooking to sleeping .
    When you do what you love to do , your mental health improves .

  2. According to me ‘Meditation’ is the correct answer. Punctuate your day with a mini-meditation with one minute of awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations; one minute of focused attention on breathing; and one minute of awareness of the body as a whole.

According to me, Self care is a priority and necessity not the luxury in the work that we do.Self-care is very important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself, sometimes called self-love. It produces positive feelings, which improves confidence and self-esteem too. Self-care is essential for your family and friends too.

  4. As per my opinion self care is essential to lead a healthy and happy life. I feel morning walk , meditation, drinking plenty of water, expressing gratitude, having an early night, rest and relax etc. are some aspects of self-care. We have to take care of ourselves properly if we want to take a proper care of our loved ones.

  5. I feel like I have been on a lifelong quest to take better care of myself. I have heard the term “self-care” casually tossed around for years and until recently it was pretty elusive for me.While I knew that I needed and wanted, to be more compassionate toward myself I wasn’t sure how to actually start making positive changes. When I was in the midst of a deep depression, the last thing I felt capable of was a major lifestyle overhaul. I wish someone had handed me a how to manual on being kind to myself because I didn’t know where to begin. After a lot of trying, I’ve finally developed a set of effective self-care skills that I use on a daily basis. And I have come to realize that self-care isn’t a brilliant epiphany or a single life-improving hack.

  7. According to me, Self care is essential for everyone. Go for walk everyday is as important as my teaching… While walking I always give time to myself and feel the nature that is most important aspect in life. Listening music is my favorite hobby….. I didn’t get much time to listen music but while cooking I listened soft music. I remembered my mother said if u think positive or sings nice songs that will impact on your family who eats that food. Its my favorite one to listen soft music. So self-care is important aspects for me.

  8. According to me “Go for a walk everyday ” is essential to lead a healthy life. Self-care is taking care of and honoring your body, mind, and spirit in a way that activates your best self. Self-care choices are those that improve your physical, mental, or emotional health, and move you towards your desired outcome. Go for a walk everyday provides amazing health benefits. It not only helps you feel good, it will help you look good as well. Exercise does not have to be harsh and difficult. A simple brisk walk each day can greatly improve your health.

I think yes most of the time we forget to self care but if we want to live heathy and mindfull life we have to be like an athlete who trains for a competitive event, Self-Care Plans require that you practice the activities regularly. Be realistic with yourself by remembering that it takes time for a new practice to become a routine. There will be moments when you falter and that’s okay. We’re all human. Don’t punish yourself, but instead refocus and recommit to your plan. This way, if you find yourself on the edge of that void, staring it down, you’ll be prepared and i also believe that to live life with mindfulness, there is more than one way to practice mindfulness, but the goal of any mindfulness technique is to achieve a state of alert, focused relaxation by deliberately paying attention to thoughts and sensations without judgment. This allows the mind to refocus on the present moment. All mindfulness techniques are a form of meditation.

  10. Self care is very essential to groom one’s personality. An individual needs to take care of oneself and this can be achieved by reading, by meditation or any of of the points listed. This entirely depends from person to person.I would of course prefer to read a good book and listen to music to hone my confidence and relax. Relaxation will enable me to take self care. At the same time I need to say, we should help others and also take care of others needs. this is equally important

  11. Taking care of others is a good habit but these days taking care of yourself has become a priority and according to me yoga and meditation are the best ways to do that. Meditation keeps the mind fresh and healthy whereas yoga helps to fight with diseases and improves your immunity system.

So to make ourself happy do whatever u like a lot.According to my view point listening music will take u in new world and help us to enjoy our life. By reading book i learn so many things. As you become stressed ,self care is usually the first thing to go, so putting self care at the top of your to-do list .To practice self care go for a walk everyday ,rest and relax and do meditation. This will boost your immune system and makes you more productive.

If we give priority to ourselves to be happy it never mean that we are selfish.It’s good to help & look after others but it doesn’t mean that we should ignore ourselves.If we are happy then we can make others happy too. To make ourselves happy we can go for a walk it will also help us to feel fresh & make new friends,do meditation & yoga which will keep us fit & healthy.We can go on a trip to rest & relax & to refresh our mind.

  14. One of the principles is the need to take care of yourself before you help others. Before I can help other people,I need to take care of my own inner demons. I need to make sure that I am in a good mental state. Only THEN, once I am in a good place, should I try to help others.

  15. Be there for others, but never leave yourself behind.Sometimes, when we’re feeling stressed and running around taking care of everybody else, the healthiest thing we can do is to stop and consider how we can take care of ourselves.
    While this seems obvious to some people, many of us struggle with the idea of putting ourselves first. We were raised to think we should always put others before ourselves and ignore our own needs—that it is somehow arrogant or self-centered, and not a nice thing to do.

  16. I agree with Mila maam and Manpreet, that the ways and means to relax and boost mental health can vary from person to person .
    I try to incorporate – chanting some mantras in the morning and evening walk in own self care chart. I strongly believe when we remember the almighty early in the morning, it boosts up our self care scale.

  20. I agree with many teachers that every person has their own way to relax. According to me dancing for Krishna works like meditation for me. Chanting Mahamantra gives me inner strength. And listening His leelas provides me energy. Thinking about Shree Dham Varindavan excites me and gives me new hopes and energy to relax myself. Others points like walk in a day, meditation are linked with it only.

As per my perspective in todays scenario everyone is concious about their health but due to lack of time as people are busy to earn bread and butter and they are always in rush and give priority to other work which are more important to them thus people don’t have time for self care which is most vital part of our life.There are various ways to do self care which are meditation,yoga,drink plenty of water and go for walk daily because we all know that health is wealth.

Today’s fast-paced world, we tend to turn to our phones for entertainment or comfort, scrolling through news feeds that can contribute to our stress and anxiety rather than helping it. Instead, consider bringing a book with you when you leave the house. Even better, bring books , so that you can learn more about how to take care of yourself while you are taking care of yourself. You might be amazed at the difference it can make when you slow down instead of always looking at your phone. Not only can it help improve your mood, it can also help you to stay more present and mindful. So i go with reading books is important. I also highlighted Daily exercise which includes yoga and Meditation can help you both physically and mentally, boosting your mood and reducing stress and anxiety

    Of course, it might be hard to go to the gym every day, so try to incorporate other exercises, such as walking, tennis, or yoga, which may be able to fit into your schedule more easily. The most important thing is to create a routine that works for you.

  31. It is vital and our responsibility to take care of ourselves first and than the others. First we have to be in a good shape & form (both physically and mentally) to help others. The most important thing that we all overlook is how to rejuvenate our mind & soul? How about giving ourselves some ‘Me Time’. ‘Me Time’ is like treating ourselves with things that we like or enjoy the most i.e meditation , yoga, reading book, going out with friends now and then. Live your life limitless without unnecessary worries. Mental health is as important as physical fitness so take care of both.

  32. According to me listening music ,take rest, watching motivational videos,plan trip and outings with family and friends make me happy and free.
    I would like to share one live example here after continued schedule we went trip to Thailand with friends and ma’am principal this trip make me fresh.To see nature and roaming around jungles,I was thinking ‘waaoooo’ to met with nature,see clouds down to me and sky near to me I felt I don’t want anything in this world.
    So after coming I feel fresh , energetic and more enthusiastic rather than before .
    We should enjoy every moment with us,give time to yourself and keep smiling.

  33. Greetings for the day! Yes, in our Indian society, we are generally trained that one must look after one’s family even at the cost of sacrificing personal interests and personal likes. I guess, to a great extent it’s quite right because this way a person gets ready to shoulder responsibilities right from a tender age…but this altogether does not mean to sacrifice one’s own likes and interests. There can always be a balance of both the things, taking care of kith and kin as well as living one’s own dream. In order to make myself get a feel of self care I prefer going out for a walk, reading a book, do yoga, meditation, listen to music etc. A walk is quite relaxing, Reading helps remain creative and imaginative, Yoga and meditation help relieve stress and finally my favourite music helps me being myself.

A couple of days ago, I read an article online where a woman working in an MNC put up a message that she needed day off for taking care of her mental health.That was the high time when It too struck in my mind that how vital it is to enjoy self care.The most sugnificant element for self care is practising gratitude and to develop kind attitude.When we are holding humality and integrity we actually feel intense contentment which is foremost for self care.Moreover a good walk and a fine track can boost our love for ourselves.Rest depends upon interests and inclinations, I strongly feel that whatever makes us happy we should firmly do that.

    1. According to me yoga, meditation and listen to music are the element throught which we can do self care.
      Yoga and Meditation is the process of quieting the mind in order to spend time in thought for relaxation or religious/spiritual purposes. The goal is to attain an inner state of awareness and intensify personal and spiritual growth. In practice,yoga and meditation involves concentrated focus on something such as a sound, image or feeling.
